PORTLAND — Sophia Wilson scored on a penalty kick in stoppage time to give the Portland Thorns a 2-2 draw with the Utah Royals on Saturday at Providence Park. The result extended Portland’s unbeaten home streak to 10 regular-season matches dating back to last season.

The Thorns opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Olivia Moultrie found the net. Utah responded before halftime as Kiana Palacios headed in an equalizer in the 44th minute, ending Portland’s 637-minute home shutout streak—the first goal the Thorns had conceded at Providence Park this season.

Utah took the lead early in the second half. In the 50th minute, Mina Tanaka provided an assist to Cloé Lacasse, who converted to make it 2-1. The Royals entered the match as the league’s top-ranked team with a 7-2-3 record and unbeaten in their previous 10 matches across all competitions.

Portland earned a late chance to level the score when Alexa Spaanstra fouled Jayden Perry inside the penalty area. Wilson stepped up and converted the resulting penalty kick, marking her fifth goal of the season. The stoppage-time finish preserved Portland’s home unbeaten run and kept them in second place in the league standings with a 7-3-3 record.
