HAMPDEN — Lawrence Shankland scored two goals in Scotland's 4-1 victory over Curacao at Hampden on June 8, 2026. The win served as Scotland’s final home match before departing for the United States for their upcoming tournament preparations.

Curacao opened the scoring while the match was still 11 versus 11, taking an early 1-0 lead. Jurgen Locadio of Curacao was sent off in the 38th minute after elbowing Aaron Hickey, reducing the visitors to 10 men. Scotland capitalized on the numerical advantage, with Shankland netting twice to turn the game around.

For the first hour of the match, Shankland played in deeper and wider positions rather than his usual central striking role. George Hirst started as Scotland’s number nine, but it was Shankland who provided the offensive spark. His two goals added to a prolific 2026 in which he has scored nine times in 13 matches, including five goals in five games in May and two in three matches in April. Overall, Shankland has scored 23 goals in his last 37 appearances. Shankland transferred from Hearts to Rangers earlier this year.

Findlay Curtis, a 19-year-old winger for Rangers, also made an impact after coming on as a substitute for the injured Billy Gilmour. Curtis scored a goal just three minutes after entering the pitch and later won the penalty that led to Ryan Christie’s strike, making the final score 4-1. It marked Curtis’s second appearance for Scotland, having previously played for Kilmarnock during the latter months of the season before joining Rangers. "Everything I've dreamed of," Curtis said.
