BRIGHTON — Bruno Fernandes recorded 21 assists in the 2025/26 Premier League season, breaking the competition’s single-season record. He surpassed the previous mark of 20 assists, jointly held by Thierry Henry in 2002–03 and Kevin De Bruyne in 2019–20.

Fernandes provided the assist for Patrick Dorgu’s opening goal against Brighton & Hove Albion in the final matchday of the 2025/26 season, securing his 21st assist and cementing the new record. The achievement earned him the Coca-Cola Playmaker award, which is given to the player with the most assists in a Premier League campaign.

In addition to his record-setting assist tally, Fernandes scored nine goals during the 2025/26 league season. His contributions helped Manchester United finish third in the table, qualifying the club for Champions League football after a two-year absence.

Fernandes’s performance was recognized across multiple award categories. The Premier League named him its Player of the Season for 2025/26. He also received the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award, an honor voted on by members of the Football Writers’ Association.

Manchester United honored Fernandes with both of its top individual season awards. He was named the club’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Season and the Players’ Player of the Season for 2025/26, reflecting admiration from both supporters and teammates.

Fernandes was also selected for the Premier League Fan Team of the Season, as determined by a poll that drew more than 200,000 votes. The midfield trio in the fan-voted team included Fernandes alongside Declan Rice and Dominik Szoboszlai.

The 2025/26 season marked Fernandes’s most productive campaign in the Premier League since joining Manchester United in January 2020. His 21 assists placed him ahead of all previous single-season totals in the competition’s history.
