SAN ANTONIO — Sally Norwood Blecher, 53, was arrested on May 28, 2026, and charged with arson, a second-degree felony, for allegedly setting fire to a shared office in San Antonio on May 6, 2026. According to a San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) arrest warrant, Blecher admitted to starting the fire in the 8600 block of Broadway.

Security camera footage from the office, which Blecher shared with her husband, showed her striking multiple matches to ignite a couch, according to an SAPD detective’s account in the arrest warrant. The footage also captured her leaving the room briefly, returning with two aluminum cans containing liquid, opening one, and pouring its contents onto the fire. Investigators later determined the fire was intentionally set after interviewing witnesses and examining the scene.

According to arrest warrant documents, Blecher’s husband told police he was in the middle of a divorce with her. Earlier on May 6, he and one of his teenage daughters attended a therapist appointment, during which Blecher arrived and initiated an argument that led the therapist to ask her to leave, the documents state.

Following the incident, Blecher sent alarming messages to family members that caused them to express concern for her safety, according to arrest warrant documents. She encountered first responders at the scene after walking out of the building and, while being treated for injuries, allegedly admitted to them that she had started the fire, per an SAPD statement.

Blecher admitted to taking an unknown number of pills due to having thoughts of self-harm, according to an SAPD statement. She was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

Blecher was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on May 28, 2026, and has since been released on bond, according to jail records. Court records show she is expected to make her next court appearance on August 26, 2026. The charges against her remain allegations, and she has not yet entered a plea.
