ORLANDO — The Orlando Storm clinched a home playoff game for the UFL postseason but will host their June 7 contest at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, instead of in Orlando, Florida. The change was necessitated by venue unavailability in the team’s home market.

Inter&Co Stadium, the Storm’s regular-season home, is unavailable due to preparations for an international soccer match between England and Costa Rica scheduled for June 10. Alternative venues in Orlando—including Camping World Stadium and UCF’s Acrisure Bounce House—were also unavailable, either because of scheduling conflicts or ongoing renovations.

The UFL evaluated additional sites in Central Florida but determined none met the league’s broadcast requirements and operational and logistical standards for a playoff game. As a result, league officials selected Historic Crew Stadium, which serves as the home venue for the Columbus Aviators, to host the matchup.

“We recognize and appreciate the passion of our Orlando fans. Their support has helped build the foundation for this exciting first season, and we understand the disappointment that comes with moving a playoff game out of the market,” UFL President and CEO Russ Brandon said in a statement.

“This decision was made only after exhausting available local options and with great care to ensure the game is presented at the level our fans deserve. We remain committed to the greater Orlando area and are grateful for the continued energy, loyalty and pride of our local fan base,” Brandon added.

The Storm finished the UFL regular season with a 7-2 record after clinching their playoff berth with a 27-19 victory over the D.C. Defenders. Their opponent in the June 7 playoff game has not yet been determined. The contest will be broadcast nationally on ABC.

Historic Crew Stadium, located in Columbus, Ohio, is the home venue of the UFL’s Columbus Aviators. The stadium previously served as the home of the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer and has hosted multiple U.S. national team matches.
