Microsoft has delayed the release of Fable from autumn 2026 to February 2027. The company also announced it will showcase a 'new look' for the game during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7.

According to a post on the Xbox account on X, Microsoft stated, "In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we’re moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves." The company added, "We’re excited to be giving players a major new look at Fable, as well as our broader lineup, at Xbox Games Showcase on June 7."

Fable is being developed by Playground Games and is set to release on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5. Microsoft first announced the game in 2020 as a 'new beginning' for the series. This will be the first mainline Fable title since Fable III released in 2010.

The title has faced multiple delays since its initial reveal. It was originally targeted for a 2025 release before being pushed back to 2026, and now to early 2027. Microsoft has not disclosed specific reasons for the repeated schedule adjustments beyond its stated goal of ensuring a focused launch window.

The Xbox Games Showcase on June 7 will serve as the next major public update for the game. Fans have not seen substantial new gameplay or narrative details since the premiere trailer in 2020. Microsoft has not indicated whether the showcase will include a release date confirmation beyond the newly announced February 2027 window or details about gameplay mechanics, story elements, or world design.
