CHICAGO — The Detroit Tigers placed pitcher Casey Mize on the 15-day injured list with right adductor inflammation on May 29, 2026, retroactive to May 28, 2026. Mize is not eligible to return until June 12, 2026.

Mize exited his start on May 27, 2026, against the Los Angeles Angels after four scoreless innings, during which he recorded six strikeouts. He left the game due to a right groin issue, marking a recurrence of the same injury that sidelined him from April 29 to May 16, 2026.

"Same area — just the sensation of it was less than last time," Casey Mize said. "Obviously, we’ll know more in the next couple days. But I don’t think it was as bad as what I felt in Atlanta. We’ll see how I wake up and feel."

When healthy in 2026, Mize posted a 2.27 ERA across 47⅔ innings in nine starts.

The Tigers need a starter to fill Mize's spot in the rotation for their May 31, 2026, series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays. The team has not announced a replacement as of May 29.
