AUSTIN — A lawsuit was filed against Circuit of The Americas and Liberty Media on behalf of a spectator who had a $750,000 Richard Mille watch stolen during the 2025 U.S. Grand Prix in Austin. The complaint alleges the defendants failed to warn premium ticket holders or enhance security after a similar theft occurred the previous day.

Police arrested a group of suspects who allegedly coordinated two robberies on October 18 and October 19, 2025, at the event. In both incidents, a woman created a distraction by falling in front of the victim while accomplices assaulted the individual and removed a luxury watch from their wrist. The plaintiff’s Richard Mille RRM 65-01 “LeBron James” watch was forcibly taken during the second incident.

Viviana Garzon-Olarte was identified as the woman who acted as a diversion and has been charged with a second-degree felony of robbery by assault. According to a statement to police, the first victim shouted a warning to the second victim and saw the suspects take the watch before vanishing into the crowd.

Detectives found a photo and a video on Garzon-Olarte’s phone, timestamped at 9 p.m. on October 18, showing a Richard Mille watch matching the one stolen from the first victim. The video also displayed interiors and voices consistent with an Airbnb residence in Lago Vista where Garzon-Olarte had been staying.

Police believe the robberies were part of a broader series targeting individuals wearing high-end luxury watches. The plaintiff is seeking up to $1 million in compensation.
