WASHINGTON, D.C. — Milli Vanilli, Morris Day, and Young MC each denied being scheduled to perform at the Freedom 250-organized 'Great American State Fair' on Washington's National Mall, despite appearing in the event's official lineup announcement. Freedom 250 had released a 'first wave' of performers for the fair, which is set to run from June 25 to July 10.

Milli Vanilli and Young MC were listed to appear at an 'I Love the 90s' concert on June 26 as part of the festivities. Jodie Rocco of Milli Vanilli said in an email: "My sister and I were shocked to see our name, 'Milli Vanilli', as one of the performers." She told the AP that neither she, her sister Linda Rocco, nor any other Milli Vanilli members had been asked to perform at the event.

Morris Day was listed to perform on June 27, but he posted on Instagram: "Contrary to rumor, Morris Day & The Time will not be performing at the 'GREAT AMERICAN STATE FAIR.'" Young MC, also scheduled for the June 26 'I Love the 90s' concert, posted on Instagram: "The artists were never told about any political involvement with the event." He added that he hoped to "perform in D.C. in the near future at an event that is not so politically charged."

Other performers announced for the event include the Commodores, Flo Rida, Martina McBride, and Vanilla Ice.

Freedom 250 was launched by Donald Trump late last year and describes itself as a 'national, non-partisan organization leading the celebration of our Nation's 250th birthday.' Trump appointed Keith Krach, who served as under secretary of state during his first term, as CEO of Freedom 250. A Freedom 250 spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday.
