Manchester United announced an operating profit of £37.7 million for the nine months ending March 31, 2026, reversing an operating loss of £3.2 million during the same period a year earlier. The club attributed the turnaround to cost-cutting measures initiated under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and improved on-field performance.

The club reported earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of £187.5 million for the period, up from £145.3 million a year earlier. Despite the improved profitability, Manchester United’s short-term borrowing rose to £262.5 million as of March 31, 2026, approximately £50 million higher than the same quarter in the prior year. Cash and cash equivalents totaled £60.9 million, down from £73.2 million a year earlier, and the club paid £30 million toward a revolving credit facility during the quarter.

Matchday revenue for the quarter totaled £42.2 million, a 5.2% decrease from the prior year due to three fewer home matches played. The club also incurred a £16.7 million cost from sacking manager Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff. Manchester United remains burdened by $650 million in debt originating from the Glazer family’s ownership era.

CEO Omar Berrada said, "We feel very positive about the club’s progress this season and the continuing positive impact of our business transformation initiatives." He added, "Finishing third in the Premier League and securing qualification to next season’s UEFA Champions League is testament to our men’s team’s improved form on the pitch." Berrada also said, "Michael Carrick has done an excellent job in the 17 games he has overseen and we are delighted that he will continue as head coach." He noted, "Our women’s team reached the quarter final in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and also reached the final of the League Cup for the first time and will be participating once again in the World Sevens Series." On youth development, Berrada said, "On the academy side, reaching the FA Youth Cup and PL2 play-off finals is also an indication of our continued commitment to youth development."
