KANSAS CITY — Universal Pictures released a final trailer for Steven Spielberg's sci-fi film Disclosure Day, which is scheduled to open in theaters on June 12, 2026. The film marks Spielberg’s first science fiction project in eight years.

Disclosure Day follows a TV meteorologist in Kansas City, played by Emily Blunt, who becomes entangled in a government conspiracy after aliens decide to end their secrecy. The official logline states: 'If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to 7 billion people. We are coming close to… Disclosure Day.'

Josh O’Connor stars as Daniel Kellner, a whistleblower aiming to expose a 79-year government cover-up of alien existence. The conspiracy is willing to kill him to protect its secrets. Blunt’s character and Kellner share a childhood connection, with suggestions both were subjects of alien experiments. In one scene from the trailer, Blunt’s character is hijacked mid-weather report and speaks an alien language of clicks and pops.

David Koepp wrote the screenplay, and John Williams composed the score. The cast includes Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, Elizabeth Marvel, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Michael Gaston, and Mckenna Bridger. Professional wrestlers Chavo Guerrero Jr., Lance Archer, and Brian Cage also appear in the film.

Universal kept early marketing details minimal. A first trailer debuted during the Super Bowl, followed by a second in March that described the government’s '79-year terror campaign of lies.' Spielberg said, 'This is a story about us, all of us, up against the most extraordinary event in human history.' He added, 'How will disclosure change us? I believe for the better. It will remind us of our capacity for empathy and that there is something bigger out there than just ourselves.' He also said, 'I used to say to myself, wouldn’t it be wonderful if all of this turned out to be true? I’m now thinking, wouldn’t it be wonderful for people to know all of this is true?'

No independent assessment of Disclosure Day’s claims was available.
