HARRIS COUNTY — Gary Davis, 38, was arrested and charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing Marlon Sanders, 36, during a child pickup dispute on Blue Timbers Court in Harris County on Tuesday. The incident occurred in a northeast Harris County neighborhood just east of C.E. King Parkway and south of East Little York Road.
According to a spokesperson for Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Sanders’ wife had previously been in a relationship with Davis while separated from Sanders. During that separation, the woman had a baby with Davis. The woman had allowed the infant to visit Davis for a couple of days, and she and Sanders went to retrieve the child on Tuesday.
When they arrived, Davis allegedly rushed outside and shot Sanders while he was standing near his vehicle in the roadway. Sanders was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No one else was injured during the shooting.
Precinct 3 deputies responded to the scene, followed by Harris County Sheriff’s Office crime scene investigators and homicide detectives. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez credited multiple units involved in the investigation and arrest, including the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, K-9 units, and Air Support.
Davis was booked into the Harris County Jail following his arrest. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office identified Sanders as the victim and Davis as the defendant in the case.
