WASHINGTON, D.C. — Former President Donald Trump threatened to attack Oman if it attempts to control the Strait of Hormuz alongside Iran. "Omán se comportará igual que todos los demás, o tendremos que bombardearlos," Trump said.

Trump has threatened, left open the possibility of attacking, or actually attacked at least 15 countries during his two presidential terms. During his second term, he launched military attacks in seven countries: Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen. Some of these actions, such as those in Iraq, were limited strikes targeting terrorists rather than the governing regime.

In addition to carrying out military operations, Trump has threatened or left open the possibility of attacking seven countries during his second term: Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Greenland, Mexico, Panama, and Oman. His threats toward Oman specifically relate to the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping lane through which about a fifth of the world’s oil passes.

Trump also threatened Mexico and North Korea during his first presidential term. In some instances, his statements consisted of refusing to rule out military action rather than issuing direct threats.

The 15 countries Trump has threatened or attacked span multiple continents, including nations in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Five of these are in the Middle East, out of fewer than 20 countries in the region. Together, the populations of these 15 countries account for approximately 1 in 11 people worldwide. The 15 countries represent approximately 1 in 13 of the world’s nearly 200 countries.
