PAHOA — Hawaii Police Department officers are investigating three related homicides in the Puna district of Hawaii Island and are seeking Jacob Daniel Baker, a 36-year-old Pahoa man, in connection with the deaths. The incidents occurred between Monday and Tuesday at separate residences in the Pahoa area.

On Monday at 8:47 p.m., patrol officers responded to a home in the 14-000 block of Papaya Farms Road after receiving a report of a deceased man. Officers found an elderly man dead at the scene, and police later determined the death involved suspicious circumstances, prompting a homicide investigation. The following day at 12:39 p.m., officers responded to another residence in the 14-300 block of Papaya Farms Road, where they discovered a second elderly man dead with suspicious injuries. At 9:58 p.m. Tuesday, a third elderly man was found deceased on a property in the 12-7800 block of Kalapana Kapoho Beach Road in Pahoa. Police believe all three homicides are connected.

“Jacob Daniel Baker is considered armed and extremely dangerous,” according to the Hawaii Police Department. He is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds, with short black hair and a tattoo under his left eye. Authorities urge the public not to approach him and to immediately contact 911 or the Hawaii Police Department’s nonemergency line at (808) 935-3311 if he is seen.

Autopsies will be performed on the victims to determine the exact causes of death.
