UNIVERSAL CITY — Aguilar Campos, 18, is in custody for allegedly shooting a teenage boy in Universal City during a robbery after luring him through an online dating app. Universal City police allege that Campos used online dating platforms to target victims in violent robberies.

According to Universal City Police Chief Johnny Siemens, the teenage victim told investigators he had arranged to meet someone online, believing it was a girl, and was then robbed and shot. “So far, victim is telling us it was a robbery. He set up to meet a girl online and they got robbed and shot,” Siemens said.

The shooting occurred Monday near the 1000 block of Pat Booker Road at Villa Drive. The victim, believed to be about 15 years old, was shot at least three times but sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses reported he stumbled to the On The Grind coffee shop drive-through asking for help. Molly Irish, a staff member at the shop, said the teen had been shot at the Villa Mesa Apartments and was trying to escape an armed assailant. “I'm glad that we were here and we were open and we were able to help,” Irish said.

Campos is connected to at least two violent incidents in Universal City. In a separate case, another victim was robbed and pistol-whipped after being lured through an online dating platform. Police believe a woman may have been working with Campos. Investigators say both suspects resided at the Villa Mesa Apartments. A female suspect remains at large, and as of Wednesday morning, no additional arrests had been announced.

Campos was arrested following a SWAT operation. He has an extensive criminal history despite being 18 years old and faces multiple felony charges, including two aggravated robbery charges. He remained in the Bexar County Jail at last check. The teenage victim was still hospitalized as of Wednesday morning.
