ANN ARBOR — Jaime Ffrench entered the transfer portal after the 2025 season and committed to Michigan, where he is expected to compete for a starting wide receiver role in 2026. Ffrench, a wide receiver for the Michigan Wolverines, played in four games during his true freshman season in 2025 while maintaining his redshirt status and recorded one catch for six yards.

Ffrench was a borderline Top 50 prospect in the 2025 recruiting class and initially committed to Texas after receiving offers from multiple SEC programs and Ohio State. He later transferred to Michigan, a decision influenced by quarterback Bryce Underwood and wide receiver Andrew Marsh, who recruited him via social media. “Man, they were a big influence on me,” Ffrench told The Michigan Daily. “I knew those guys in the recruitment process, always going to camp, 7-on-7, (Marsh) was like my best friend in the recruitment process. So just rekindling the flame of how I see it and just getting to work and handling the business on the big stage.”

Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham acknowledged the team is still working to solidify wide receiver roles behind Buchanan and Marsh. Whittingham used the transfer portal to add pass-catching options for Underwood during the 2026 offseason, addressing a unit that underperformed during the 2024 and 2025 seasons due to a lack of player development.

Andrew Marsh is expected to remain Underwood’s primary receiving option in 2026, a continuation of their connection evident during the 2025 season. J.J. Buchanan, who transferred from Utah, is also expected to see playing time. Ffrench is among the candidates to earn one of the starting wide receiver spots behind Marsh and Buchanan. True freshman Salesi Moa will also compete for a wide receiver role.
