PHOENIX — Julie Andrews made a recorded on-screen appearance at the Seventh World Parkinson's Congress in Phoenix, her first public appearance in three years. The four-day gathering of medical professionals and people with Parkinson’s concluded on Wednesday in Phoenix.

"I'm Julie Andrews, and I'm pleased to welcome you to the Seventh World Parkinson's Congress," Julie Andrews said. "I know well how devastating it can be," she said of Parkinson's disease.

Andrews’ previous public appearance was at the premiere for Carol Burnett’s '90 Years of Laughter + Love.' Her most recent on-screen film performance was in the 2010 comedy 'The Tooth Fairy' opposite Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. She also appeared in 2023 television tributes for Carol Burnett and Dick Van Dyke.

Andrews won an Academy Award in 1965 for her portrayal of Mary Poppins. She was made a dame by Queen Elizabeth II on New Year's Eve 1999. Andrews has won two Grammy Awards related to an audiobook narration and 'Mary Poppins,' and she won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance as Lady Whistledown on Netflix's 'Bridgerton.' She has also been nominated for three Tony Awards.
