BALTIMORE — Colton Cowser hit walk-off home runs on consecutive days, May 24–25, 2026, leading the Baltimore Orioles to victories over the Detroit Tigers and Tampa Bay Rays. On May 24, he homered in the ninth inning of the first game of a doubleheader to secure a 5-3 win over the Tigers.

The following day, Cowser hit a two-run walk-off home run in the 13th inning to give the Orioles a 9-7 victory over the Rays. His heroics made him the first Baltimore Orioles player to hit walk-off home runs on back-to-back days since Fred Lynn accomplished the feat on May 10–11, 1985, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Cowser’s May 25 heroics capped a tense extra-innings contest. In the 12th inning, he scored on a head-first slide at home plate on a grounder to first by Gunnar Henderson. Plate umpire Ryan Additon initially called him out, but the call was overturned on replay review, which showed Cowser’s arm reached under catcher Nick Fortes’s tag. "I didn’t know where he tagged me. I just felt contact kind of on this arm. I didn’t know what it was. It turned out it was his leg," Cowser said.

Cowser described the May 25 win as "one of my favorite complete team wins." Orioles manager Craig Albernaz praised Cowser’s perseverance, saying, "It’s one of those things where you get to see guys who are not getting the results they want, but the work they’re putting in and the collaboration with our hitting coaches, trying to problem solve an approach or a swing adjustment, a stance, whatever it is. To see it come through at the biggest moment on the biggest stage, against a really good team. Yeah, I couldn’t be happier, prouder for Colton."

Orioles starter Kyle Bradish added, "I mean, we all know what he’s capable of. And I think he’s starting to get out of whatever he was in and starting to be the player that he is." Through May 25, 2026, Cowser has a .200 batting average, .287 on-base percentage, and .316 slugging percentage. Over an eight-game stretch ending May 25, he is hitting .333 with three home runs.

Cowser, the fifth overall selection in the 2021 MLB draft, hit 24 home runs in 2024 and finished second in American League Rookie of the Year balloting. In 2025, he posted a .196 batting average, .289 on-base percentage, and .385 slugging percentage.
