Chattanooga Police arrested 19-year-old Nichalos Dewayne Moore on charges of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Zackary Miller. The incident occurred on May 3, 2026, at approximately 1 a.m. in the 4600 block of Highway 58.

Officers responded to a report of a person shot and found Miller with a gunshot wound in a grassy area at Scooter's Coffee. He was transported to a local hospital by EMS and pronounced dead. A blood trail led across the street to the Circle K, where investigators located three shell casings, indicating the shooting took place near that location.

According to police reports, video footage from multiple locations showed Miller following Moore and two other men. The victim appeared to be holding an object and was yelling at the group, who yelled back. Multiple witnesses told detectives that Moore pulled out a gun and shot Miller three times.

Moore was later seen entering a nearby house with a cell phone but exited without it and was stopped by officers for questioning. He initially told police there was an argument and a bullet went past his head. Moore denied firing any shots. Moore remains in custody on the charges of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
