STARKVILLE — The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns earned a No. 3 seed in the 2026 NCAA Starkville Regionals and will begin tournament play on May 29. The team secured an at-large bid to the regional, becoming the only college baseball program from Louisiana to qualify for the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

Louisiana enters the tournament with a 39–22 overall record after finishing as runner-up to Southern Mississippi in the Sun Belt Conference Championship game. This marks the program’s 20th appearance in NCAA Tournament history and its first return to the Starkville Regionals since 1997. Matt Deggs is in his seventh year as head coach of the Ragin’ Cajuns.

The Starkville Regionals are hosted by top-seeded Mississippi State, which holds a 40–17 record and represents the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Mississippi State, which finished eighth in the SEC regular season standings, was eliminated in the double-elimination round of the SEC Tournament by Georgia. The Bulldogs recorded notable wins during the 2026 season against Texas A&M, Auburn, Texas, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Southern Mississippi. Mississippi State also swept a three-game series against Lipscomb in March 2026.

Cincinnati earned the No. 2 seed in the regional with a 37–20 record as a member of the Big 12 Conference. The Bearcats made their ninth NCAA Tournament appearance overall. Cincinnati posted wins over West Virginia, UCF, Kansas, and Auburn during the 2026 season.

Lipscomb claimed the No. 4 seed after winning the 2026 ASUN Championship with a 5–4 victory over North Alabama. The Bison carry a 29–24 record into the tournament and represent the Atlantic Sun Conference. Lipscomb, which had three prior NCAA Tournament appearances before 2026, enters postseason play on a five-game winning streak.
