JACKSONVILLE — Sporting Club Jacksonville will host San Antonio FC at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, at Hodges Stadium on the University of North Florida campus. The match marks the beginning of a three-game homestand for Jacksonville.

This will be Sporting Club Jacksonville’s first home game in USL Championship league play since April 4 and its first appearance at Hodges Stadium since April 25. The club is still seeking its first win in USL Championship league play, holding a record of 0 wins, 8 losses, and 1 draw through nine matches.

Although winless in league action, Sporting Club Jacksonville earned its first competitive victory on May 13 in the USL Cup against Sarasota Paradise of USL League One. The team’s defense has relied heavily on goalkeeper Christian Olivares, who leads the USL Championship with 25 saves.

San Antonio FC enters the match as the leader of the Western Conference with 20 points from 11 games. The visiting side brings experienced personnel, including head coach Carlos Llamosa, who represented the United States at the 2002 World Cup. San Antonio FC sporting director Marco Ferruzzi had a brief connection to Jacksonville in 1998 when he joined the A-League’s Jacksonville Cyclones on a loan deal. Goalkeeper Richard Sanchez, who signed with Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas in 2011, is also part of San Antonio’s roster.

The upcoming homestand offers Sporting Club Jacksonville an opportunity to build momentum in front of its home crowd. After Wednesday’s match, the team will host Monterey Bay FC on June 3 and Sacramento Republic FC on June 7, completing the three-game stretch at Hodges Stadium.
