CARDIFF — Wales women's national football team has announced its squad for the June 2026 Women's World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and the Czech Republic. The team will play Montenegro in Podgorica on June 5, 2026, and host the Czech Republic at Cardiff City Stadium on June 9, 2026.

Ceri Holland, Olivia Clark, and Laura Hughes are among those named in the squad. Hayley Ladd is absent due to injury. Holland had withdrawn from Wales’ April 2026 matches against Albania but returned to action with Liverpool in the closing weeks of the 2025-26 Women’s Super League season. Clark featured in the final stages of the same season after recovering from an ankle injury sustained while on Wales duty in February 2026. Hughes, who switched her international allegiance from Australia to Wales in December 2025, is included for the second time but missed the previous two camps due to injury.

Young players feature prominently, with 18-year-old Manchester United defender Scarlett Hill earning a spot after collecting two senior caps. Nineteen-year-old Bournemouth midfielder Elena Cole has been called up following strong performances for Wales Under-19s. Newcastle United defender Lois Joel is also included after withdrawing from the April matches against Albania because of injury.

Carrie Jones is set to reach 50 caps for Wales if she appears in both June qualifiers. Wales currently sit second in Group B1 with 10 points from four matches, level on points with group leaders the Czech Republic but trailing on goal difference. Wins in both upcoming matches would secure top spot in the group and a more favorable draw in the 2026 play-offs.

Head coach Rhian Wilkinson said she spoke to every squad member following the April international break, during which Wales won both matches against Albania. "I think it's an exciting squad—we are really building our depth with Wales," she said. "We've got two very important games around the corner where we've got to make sure that we deliver two performances that we can be proud of."
