SPOKANE — Gonzaga signed Houston transfer Isiah Harwell to a financial aid agreement on May 26, 2026. The agreement formalized Harwell’s commitment to the Bulldogs, which he had announced more than a month earlier.

Harwell is the second player to sign a binding agreement with Gonzaga in the 2026 offseason, following Massamba Diop from Arizona State, who signed on May 5, 2026. The 6-foot-6 guard from Pocatello, Idaho, attended Century High School and later Wasatch Academy, a prep school in Utah, before beginning his college career at Houston.

During his freshman season with the Cougars in 2025–26, Harwell appeared in 32 games and averaged 13.8 minutes per contest. He averaged 3.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game while shooting 27.9% from the field, 27.1% from the 3-point line, and 61.3% from the free-throw line. His playing time diminished in the NCAA Tournament, where he logged only seven total minutes across Houston’s games against Idaho and Texas A&M.

Harwell’s development at Houston was affected by injury. He suffered an ACL tear during his senior year at Wasatch Academy and experienced complications that led to a reinjury during the McDonald’s All-American Game. “He tore his ACL and then had complications from it. He reinjured it during the McDonald's (All-American) Game. Basically he was out May through September. September is when practice started, so we felt like Isiah would have a great chance to be in the rotation. Unfortunately he was not available when we were having our toughest practices early.” Houston coach Kelvin Sampson told local reporters during an April Zoom call. Sampson added, “I think the thing that hurt Isiah was we never got a chance to develop him because he had no June, he had no July, he had no August.”

After initially entering the NBA draft following his commitment to Gonzaga, Harwell withdrew his name before the G League Combine in Chicago. At Gonzaga, he is expected to play shooting guard or small forward. He and returning point guard Mario Saint-Supery are the only true guards on the Bulldogs’ roster for the 2026–27 season.
