LOS ANGELES — Anthony Davis said in a podcast interview in 2026 that he misses former Los Angeles Lakers teammate Austin Reaves the most following his trade to the Washington Wizards in February 2025. Davis, who played six seasons with the Lakers and was part of their 2020 NBA championship team, has yet to debut for the Wizards due to a finger injury that has sidelined him since January 2025.

Davis averaged 20.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game in 20 appearances during the 2025–2026 NBA season before his trade. He was sent to Washington in a deal that brought Luka Dončić to the Lakers. Reaves remained with the Lakers and played a role in helping the team secure the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference during the 2025–2026 season.

Reaves, who joined the Lakers as an undrafted player in 2021, formed a partnership with Davis during their time together. In the 2025–2026 season, Reaves averaged 23.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game across 51 regular-season games. He is set to become a free agent in the summer of 2026.

Davis spoke emotionally about Reaves in the podcast interview, saying, "That’s my guy, bro. I miss him. Out of everybody on our team, I really miss him. That was my guy." He also described a recent episode in which he and Jenna Barber collaborated on a prank involving Reaves judging a charity endurance contest. Contestants convinced Reaves he owed them a car and $250,000 each by making him perform awkward tasks.

"This one today is a little special. Not only is he a great player, but he’s an even better guy. So naturally, I decided to use that against him," Davis said about Reaves in the podcast interview. The segment reflected their continued connection despite playing for separate teams.
