DETROIT — Vaughn Grissom hit a grand slam and drove in six runs as the Los Angeles Angels beat the Detroit Tigers 10-6 on Tuesday night in Detroit. The Angels overcame a two-run deficit in the eighth inning to secure their fourth consecutive victory.

Detroit led 6-4 entering the eighth inning after scoring three runs in the fifth. That rally began with two runners on and no outs, as Kevin McGonigle hit a two-run triple. Two subsequent walks loaded the bases, and Jahmai Jones gave the Tigers a 5-4 lead with a single. Mitch Farris limited further damage with two strikeouts and a flyout.

Will Vest recorded the first two outs of the eighth inning for Detroit with a runner on second base. Logan O'Hoppe then doubled to cut the deficit to one run. Zach Neto singled and Mike Trout walked to load the bases, setting the stage for Grissom. Facing his ninth batter of the game—matching a career high—Vest fell behind 2-0 before Grissom homered to right-center field, giving Los Angeles a 9-6 lead.

Earlier in the game, Grissom’s two-run single in the third inning had given the Angels a 2-1 lead. He was later thrown out in the same inning after losing track of the number of outs. Jo Adell hit a home run on the first pitch of the fourth inning, his eighth of the season, making it 3-1. The Angels added a fourth run on doubles by Donovan Walton and Zach Neto. Zach McKinstry hit his second sacrifice fly of the game in the bottom of the fourth.

Jo Adell and Jose Siri also homered for the Angels. Neto finished with three hits and a walk, scoring twice. For Detroit, Wenceel Pérez homered, and McGonigle reached base four times. The Tigers recorded eight hits, ending a franchise-record 11-game streak with seven or fewer hits. Their six runs also snapped a 13-game stretch in which they scored four or fewer. Detroit has now lost 12 of its last 14 games.
