DETROIT — Vaughn Grissom hit a grand slam and a two-run single to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 10-6 victory over the Detroit Tigers on May 26, 2026, at Comerica Park. The win extended the Angels’ winning streak to four games.

Grissom’s two-run single in his second at-bat gave the Angels an early 2-1 lead. He later delivered the game’s decisive blow in the eighth inning, hitting a grand slam with two outs and the bases loaded against Tigers pitcher Will Vest.

The grand slam came on a 2-0 count and landed just over the right field wall. It marked Grissom’s third hit of the game and gave the Angels the lead for good.

Grissom played first base in place of Nolan Schanuel, who was day-to-day with left calf tightness. Prior to his performance on May 26, Grissom had struggled over the previous couple of weeks.

Teammates also contributed offensively. Jo Adell hit his eighth home run of the 2026 season, and Jose Siri connected for his first homer of the year. Wade Meckler, batting fifth in the lineup, recorded a multi-hit game.

Angels starter Jack Kochanowicz pitched four-plus innings and allowed at least five runs, his third such start in his last four outings. He surrendered four consecutive baserunners without recording an out in the fifth inning before being relieved. It was the first time an Angels pitcher failed to complete five innings since Grayson Rodriguez’s season debut on May 17, 2026.

For the Tigers, Zach McKinstry hit two sacrifice flies that accounted for their first two runs. Manager Kurt Suzuki has shown early trust in Meckler by placing him in the fifth spot in the batting order.
