TORONTO — Jesús Sánchez hit his first career grand slam in the Toronto Blue Jays' 8-1 victory over the Miami Marlins on May 26, 2026. The Blue Jays’ win ended the Marlins’ four-game winning streak.

Sánchez’s grand slam was a 394-foot drive to right field during Toronto’s six-run sixth inning. It marked his sixth home run of the 2026 season. All three Blue Jays home runs in the game came off Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara.

Alcantara allowed a season-high eight runs and 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings. He hit four batters in the game and was booed after hitting Kazuma Okamoto on the arm immediately following Sánchez’s grand slam. Alcantara’s record fell to 3-4 after the loss.

Alcantara is 0-3 with a 6.07 ERA in four career starts against the Blue Jays, having allowed 34 hits in 26 2/3 innings. On May 25, 2026, the Marlins had beaten the Blue Jays 8-2 to extend their winning streak to four games before it was snapped the following day.

Sánchez previously spent parts of six seasons with the Marlins before being traded to Houston at the 2025 trade deadline. He was traded from Houston to Toronto in February 2026.

The Blue Jays’ six-run sixth inning also included home runs from Bo Bichette and Alejandro Kirk, both off Alcantara. Toronto’s starting pitcher Chris Bassitt threw six innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and striking out seven. The Marlins’ four-game winning streak had been their longest of the 2026 season prior to the loss.
