HARRIS COUNTY — Thousands of voters cast ballots in Harris County on Election Day as more than 160 polling locations remained open for Texas runoff elections. Voters had until 7 p.m. to cast their ballots, and anyone in line by that time was allowed to vote.

More than 13,000 voters cast ballots in the first three hours after polls opened at 7 a.m. Nearly 6,000 of those participated in the Democratic runoff, while a little more than 7,000 voted in the Republican runoff. More than 145,000 people had already voted during early voting the week before Election Day, including over 88,000 Republicans and more than 57,000 Democrats.

As of late morning, no major issues or delays had been reported at polling locations across Harris County. Election officials encouraged voters to verify their assigned polling location before arriving and to bring an approved form of photo identification to prevent check-in delays.

Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth provided instructions for voters who received mail ballots but wished to vote in person. “If you go to a vote center, you can provide the mail ballot to surrender that mail ballot and cast a regular ballot. If you don’t go to a vote center, you can go to 1019 Congress to actually provide your ballot to be counted.”
