HAVANA — On March 20, 2026, approximately 650 delegates from 33 countries and 120 organizations began arriving in Cuba as part of a solidarity caravan carrying about 20 tons of humanitarian aid. Members of the Our America Convoy to Cuba arrived in Havana by air from Italy, France, Spain, the United States and several Latin American countries.

Additional delegates were scheduled to arrive by sea on March 21, 2026, in a flotilla of three vessels from Mexico. On Wednesday, a group of activists arrived in Havana ahead of the convoy and delivered donations to hospitals.

Donations to the island included solar panels, food and cancer treatment medicine. David Adler, a U.S. citizen and coordinator of Progressive International and one of the caravan's organizers, said the convoy represents broader opposition to economic measures against Cuba. "In the end, we are dozens and dozens of delegates, and we represent millions of people in this convoy. We cannot allow this collective punishment. We cannot normalize it."

In January 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed an oil embargo on Cuba. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum warned of a possible humanitarian crisis in Cuba.

The convoy includes social activists, unions, prominent figures and political parties such as Morena from Mexico, the Workers' Party of Brazil and the Broad Front of Uruguay. Participants in the convoy include British Parliamentarian Jeremy Corbyn, Colombian Senator Clara López, former Spanish politician Pablo Iglesias, U.S. labor leader Chris Smalls and Brazilian humanitarian activist Thiago Ávila.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed gratitude on social media for shipments of aid to Cuba. "They bring shipments of aid to combat the attempt to suffocate us. Welcome once again to the compassion of the people. Solidarity always returns to those who practice it with no other interest than human well-being."

Multiple countries have announced additional aid shipments to Cuba. Brazil announced it would send 20,000 tons of food, primarily rice, beans and powdered milk, to Cuba. China's embassy reported that a ship carrying 60,000 tons of rice set sail for Cuba. Mexico sent food and hygiene products to Cuba on three occasions prior to the convoy's arrival, and a group of Chilean parliamentarians arrived in Cuba with aid on Thursday.
