LOS ANGELES — Prime Video released the first teaser for Vought Rising, a prequel series to The Boys, and confirmed the show will premiere in 2027. The teaser introduced a 1950s-set story exploring the origins of Vought International.

According to the official logline: "Set in the 1950s, the prequel series explores the twisted origins of Vought International. The teaser offers a diabolical first look at the world and story that will define this next evolution of the franchise."

Jensen Ackles reprises his role as Ben/Soldier Boy, and Aya Cash returns as Clara Vought, also known as Stormfront. Ethan Slater reprises his role as Thomas Godolkin. Mason Dye plays Robbie/Bombsight, Will Hochman plays Torpedo, and Elizabeth Posey plays Private Angel. KiKi Layne, Jorden Myrie, Nicolo Pasetti, Ricky Staffieri and Brian J. Smith round out the main cast.

In the prequel, Supes begin their careers in the military before joining a private-sector organization that becomes Vought International, series creator Eric Kripke said. The costume designs for the Supes were inspired by USO performers' outfits, according to Kripke, who also said in a podcast interview that other characters from The Boys franchise could appear in the series.

"We were looking at what happens in countries that have authoritarian creep, like what happens in Eastern Europe or South America or Germany," Kripke said. He added: "And the fact that all of these things happened before we even aired, we genuinely thought we were doing something a little out there. And it ended up sort of becoming reality in a way that's not great for reality."

Ackles also spoke about the show. "Look, you hope it's received well. We don't necessarily know just yet, my fingers are crossed," he said.

Vought Rising follows the conclusion of The Boys, which ran for five seasons before its series finale. The spin-off Gen V was canceled after two seasons. Amazon said in a podcast interview it is also planning a series called The Boys: Mexico.
