KNOXVILLE, TENN. — Tennessee softball coach Karen Weekly reshuffled her infield and batting order ahead of the NCAA regionals in Knoxville, Tenn. Weekly shifted the entire infield except shortstop Bella Faw.

Weekly pulled third baseman Maddi Rutan from the lineup and inserted Makenzie Butt, playing Butt at first base, her natural position. The change moved Emma Clarke from first to second base and Ella Dodge from second to third base.

The adjustments continued a pattern of postseason lineup changes by Weekly at Tennessee. Last year, she placed three new hitters at the top of the lineup for Game 2 of the NCAA super regionals against Nebraska, an elimination game. In a podcast interview, Weekly discussed how Tennessee won two straight games in that super regional series to advance to the Women's College World Series.

Weekly has made lineup changes with Tennessee in the postseason on more than one occasion, and the move ahead of this year's regionals in Knoxville follows that approach. With the infield reshuffled, Butt returns to first base, Clarke shifts to second, and Dodge takes over at third, while Faw remains at shortstop.
