MANCHESTER — Nico O'Reilly has been named the Premier League Young Player of the Season for 2025/26. The 21-year-old Manchester City footballer was also voted Etihad Player of the Season by the club's fans.

"I'm very proud to have won this award. After my first appearances in senior football last season, I knew this year I could have the opportunity to play more and help the team as much as possible if I worked hard," O'Reilly said.

O'Reilly progressed through Manchester City's youth ranks as a midfielder and has played as a left-back in senior football. He has appeared in 34 of his team's 37 Premier League games this season, scoring five goals and providing three assists. He was named the club's Etihad Player of the Month in February and April. Manchester City also won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup this season.

"I am so grateful to my family and everyone at City because this wouldn't have been possible without them. I'd also like to thank everyone who voted for me," O'Reilly said. He added: "And the City fans, they have been unbelievable. I've really felt their support, so thank you to all of them."

O'Reilly made his debut for the England national football team in November 2025 and was selected in Thomas Tuchel's 26-man squad for the World Cup. "I'm excited to finish the season strong tomorrow and then head to my first World Cup before joining back up with City and working hard again next season," he said.

The other nominees for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award were Rayan Cherki, Junior Kroupi, Alex Scott, Michael Kayode, Kobbie Mainoo, Lewis Hall and Mateus Fernandes. Since the award's inception in 2019, it has been won four times by Manchester City players: Phil Foden in 2020/21 and 2021/22, Erling Haaland in 2022/23, and O'Reilly in 2025/26.
