STADIUM OF LIGHT — Sunderland will host Chelsea at the Stadium of Light in their final Premier League match needing a victory to secure European football next season. A win would take the club to 54 points and move them above Chelsea in the table.

Sunderland, promoted via last year's play-offs, are currently 10th in the Premier League. They arrive at the fixture on the back of a 3-1 win over Everton last weekend.

The club are the fifth promoted side in the past 16 years to reach the 50-point mark, joining Wolves, Sheffield United, Leeds and Fulham. Sunderland have recovered 22 points from losing positions this season, the most in the division, and have achieved back-to-back league wins twice across the campaign.

Manager Regis Le Bris has been shortlisted for the Premier League manager of the season award. The club has won just one of its 16 previous Premier League season finales.

The two sides have already met in the league this season, with Sunderland winning 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in October. Chelsea have lost only once in their last 13 league away visits to Sunderland.

Chelsea arrive at the Stadium of Light after beating Tottenham 2-1 on Tuesday, a result that ended a run of seven league matches without a victory. The London club have not recorded consecutive league wins since early in the season and changed managers during the campaign. Xabi Alonso will not be in the dugout for the match.

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has posted his best scoring and assist numbers of his Premier League career this season, according to season statistics. Forward João Pedro has been directly involved in seven goals across his last nine appearances.
