FOXBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS — The New England Patriots acquired wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for Romeo Doubs ahead of the 2026 season. Diggs became the first Patriots receiver to record 1,000 receiving yards since Julian Edelman in 2019.

New England finished last season as the NFL's No. 2 scoring offense, averaging 28.8 points per game. The team's production declined in the postseason, with yards per pass attempt falling from 8.9 in the regular season to 6.9 in the playoffs, a 22.5% decrease, and passing yards per game dropping by an average of 55.3.

Pass protection also faltered in the postseason, as the Patriots allowed 21 sacks across their four playoff games. At the start of the third quarter of Super Bowl LX, the team's wide receivers had combined for only 60 receiving yards. Diggs frequently faced bracket coverage from the Seahawks defense during that game.

Second-year receiver Kyle Williams addressed his approach to the roster addition in remarks to reporters. "I'm focused on where my feet are. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, we still gotta keep going," Williams said.

Williams also spoke about studying Diggs and modeling parts of his own play after the veteran. "He's somebody that I studied a little bit. I'm not as big as him, but I try to play big if I can," he said.

Williams offered additional praise for the veteran receiver. "He's just a great player. Great habits, a consistent guy. He's a player you would want to look up to and watch," he said.
