SYLHET — Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 78 runs in the second Test at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium to complete a 2-0 series sweep. The result marked Bangladesh's second consecutive Test series whitewash against Pakistan and their first Test series win at home against the visitors.

Pakistan opted to bowl first and dismissed Bangladesh for 278 in the first innings, with Litton Das scoring 126. Khurram Shahzad took four wickets for Pakistan.

Pakistan were bowled out for 232 in reply, handing Bangladesh a 46-run first-innings lead. Babar Azam top-scored with 68, while Taijul Islam took 3 wickets for 67 runs.

Mushfiqur Rahim made 137 in Bangladesh's second innings, supported by 69 from Litton Das and 52 from Mahmudul Hasan Joy, as the hosts set Pakistan a target of 437 in the fourth innings. Taijul finished with 6 wickets for 120 runs in the second innings and nine wickets in the match.

Pakistan slipped to 162 for 5 on day four before Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha added 134 for the eighth wicket. Rizwan was dismissed for 94 and Salman made 71. Sajid Khan then put on a 54-run partnership with Rizwan, also for the eighth wicket, scoring 28 before Taijul dismissed him to claim his 18th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Shoriful Islam dismissed Rizwan in the next over, and Taijul wrapped up the innings by removing Khurram Shahzad for the final wicket.

Bangladesh had won the opening Test by 104 runs, with Najmul Hossain Shanto captaining the side. After sealing the series in Sylhet, the squad celebrated in the dressing room by singing the victory anthem "Amra Korbo Joy." Bangladesh's official X handle posted a video of the dressing room celebrations.
