"It's not a replacement for investment. It is a form of entertainment. And that's exactly how it should be treated." said Ryan Butler, a senior editor with sports gambling site Covers. He also encouraged bettors to study the math behind their wagers. "The more information you have, but not only just knowledge about sports, more importantly, knowledge about the odds you're really facing, what you're looking at and the probability with it." Butler said.

Warning signs of a gambling problem include betting on credit cards, borrowing money to fund wagers, or letting gambling interfere with a job, relationships, or personal responsibilities.
