Representative Ilhan Omar denied that the Department of Justice is investigating her over allegations involving her immigration history and financial disclosures, in an interview with a news outlet. She said she had not been informed of any formal investigation being pursued against her.

"That is not something that is happening. That man is delusional," Omar said, referring to Vice President JD Vance, who had claimed the DOJ is investigating allegations tied to her immigration history and financial filings. Vance also said the administration's anti-fraud task force is focusing its resources on probing the Minnesota Democrat.

Asked whether she had been contacted about any probe, she replied, "No. Because there's nothing to investigate." She also said, "I don't think they are using any resources. They're just saying stupid s—."

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer publicly raised concerns about Omar's finances on the program Hannity after a discrepancy emerged between her initial and revised financial disclosure filings. Her amended forms show her reported net worth dropped from between $6 million and $30 million to between $18,004 and $95,000. The committee also requested business records earlier this year from the company of Tim Mynett, whom she married in 2020.

"If we think that there's a crime, we're going to prosecute that crime. And that's something the Department of Justice is looking at right now," Comer said.

Omar dismissed Comer's role in any inquiry. "Comer hasn't investigated anything. He hasn't referred me to anybody. He's just saying that so he can get TV interviews because you guys will only talk to them if they say something about me," she said.

Omar's family was granted asylum after arriving in the U.S. from Somalia in 1995, and she became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2000. It was reported that she was in a religious marriage with Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi in 2002 and that she legally married British citizen Ahmed Elmi, who is alleged to be her brother, in 2009. She and Elmi separated in 2011 and legally divorced in 2017.
