STROMBOLI — Mick Jagger arrived by helicopter on the Italian island of Stromboli in April to begin principal photography on Three Incestuous Sisters, an English-language feature directed by Alice Rohrwacher in which he plays a lighthouse keeper. Jagger was photographed on arrival to take up the role.

The film is Rohrwacher's first English-language feature and an adaptation of the 2005 visual novel by Audrey Niffenegger. Principal photography is planned to last ten weeks across Stromboli and Rome.

Josh O'Connor is playing the lighthouse keeper's son. The cast also includes Dakota Johnson, Jessie Buckley, Saoirse Ronan and Isabella Rossellini.

Indian Paintbrush is financing and producing the film, with Steven Rales producing for the company. Johnson and Ro Donnelly are producing through TeaTime Pictures, and Rohrwacher is also among the producers. Fandango is serving as the Italian line producer.

Rohrwacher's previous feature, La Chimera, competed at the Cannes Film Festival and was released in the U.S. by Neon. She won a Cannes prize for The Wonders in 2014, and her film Happy as Lazzaro won the best screenplay award at Cannes in 2018. She received the European Film Academy's Achievement in World Cinema Award earlier this year.

Jagger's screen credits include lead roles in Performance and Ned Kelly, both released in 1970, and roles in Freejack in 1992, The Man from Elysian Fields in 2001 and The Burnt Orange Heresy in 2019. His producing credits include Enigma, The Women and the James Brown biopic Get on Up.
