Clouted raised $7 million in a seed funding round led by Slow Ventures to expand its artificial intelligence-driven video clipping and distribution platform. Gold House Ventures, Weekend Fund, and Peak XV's Surge also participated in the round.

The company is building infrastructure designed to automatically handle both the distribution strategy and the logistics of the clipping process. Its platform uses AI to determine the best social media platform and target audience for promoting video clips, and taps into a network of more than 100,000 gig creators to edit those clips.

Brands and marketing agencies often outsource the process of finding the most compelling 30 to 90 seconds of a video, known as clipping, to independent creators. Managing those gig workers and determining where to distribute the resulting videos involves multiple operational tasks.

Clouted's AI operates a continuous testing loop that experiments with different formats and distribution channel strategies. The system and its network of creators test thousands of different clipping and distribution approaches to identify what triggers a piece of content to go viral.

"The result is that every campaign Clouted runs makes the next one faster, smarter, and more effective. The platform learns which formats win, which audiences convert, and which distribution channels compound over time," said Justin Banusing, co-founder and chief executive officer of Clouted.

Banusing first applied the company's technology to electronic music and festival production. He used the platform to promote and grow &Friends, a Manila-based electronic dance music and pop-culture festival that draws more than 20,000 people.

Clouted went through a16z's Speedrun accelerator in 2024. The company competes directly with startups such as Overlap AI in the automated clipping space, though Banusing said he looks to larger marketing infrastructure players, specifically CreatorIQ and Hightouch, as the company's ultimate competition.
