Disney said it has no current plans to shutter Hulu as a standalone streaming service or app and will continue to sell Hulu subscriptions in the United States. The company is moving forward with deeper integration of Hulu content and backend technology into Disney+ following its full acquisition of the service in June 2025.

Disney took total ownership of Hulu in June 2025, acquiring the remaining one-third stake from Comcast after previously owning two-thirds of the service. The company has said there are no current plans to sunset the Hulu app.

The integration work began before the full acquisition. In March 2024, Disney added a Hulu tile to the Disney+ app that allows subscribers to access Hulu content, search for Hulu titles within Disney+, and see recently watched Hulu programming appear in the Disney+ "Continue Watching" section. Subscribers need only a Hulu subscription and a MyDisney login to access Hulu content through the Disney+ app.

Behind the scenes, the work involved unifying login tools, advertising platforms, metadata and personalization systems, and moving more than 100,000 individual assets and artwork. Disney has said it will re-encode all of Hulu's video files to create one master library with Disney+, and the company is working to unify the two services on the same backend technology infrastructure.

Some Hulu profiles can now link to Disney+, carrying over their Hulu watch history, watchlist, and recommendations. Disney will enable linking for eligible bundle subscribers in the coming days and roll it out to all bundle subscribers later this year. Profiles accessing Disney+ through a bundle that combines Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max are not currently eligible to link Hulu profiles.

Hulu-only subscribers logging in to the Disney+ app can view a small sampling of Disney+ and ESPN content to get a sense of bundle offerings. Disney will also start testing a new TV guide in Disney+ for live content, including 24/7 channels that play ABC News Live and The Simpsons. Disney+ does not currently support the broadcast channel and add-on features available on Hulu+Live TV, which lets users watch broadcast channels or Hulu add-ons that include content from entities such as Cinemax and Showtime, but will support them at a later date.

In October, Disney+ began supporting HDR10+, initially through more than 1,000 Hulu titles. A Disney+ subscription starts at $12 per month, a Hulu subscription starts at $12 per month, and a Disney+ and Hulu bundle starts at $13 per month.
