KYLE, TEXAS — The Kyle Police Department arrested three Houston-area residents on Sunday following a pursuit and crash involving a stolen vehicle. Officers responded around 2 a.m. on May 17 to a Flock alert for a stolen vehicle near the 19020 block of Interstate 35.

Police located the vehicle and determined it had been reported stolen in the Houston area. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled and later crashed. All occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody.

The driver, identified as David Enrique Reyes, 21, is charged with evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and a parole violation warrant tied to prior felony offenses. Ronnie Craig Carter, 23, was arrested on an outstanding probation violation warrant for possession of a prohibited weapon. Nancy Chirinos Alfaro, 24, is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Investigators recovered items consistent with burglary tools from the vehicle. Police believe the suspects may have been traveling to Kyle to commit vehicle burglaries and steal additional vehicles.

Police Chief Jeff Barnett issued a statement following the arrests. "This type of criminal activity will not be tolerated in Kyle." Barnett added, "I am thankful for the quick actions of our officers that prevented additional crimes."

The Flock alert system, which uses automated license plate recognition technology, allowed officers to identify the stolen vehicle and respond. The vehicle had been reported stolen in the Houston area before the suspects traveled to Kyle, according to the department.

Reyes faces multiple charges connected to the pursuit, including the felony offense of evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle. His charges also include a parole violation warrant tied to prior felony offenses. Carter's arrest was based on an outstanding warrant, while Alfaro faces the same unauthorized use charge as Reyes in connection with the stolen vehicle.
