San Antonio Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama scored 41 points and grabbed 24 rebounds in a 122-115 double-overtime victory over the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The 22-year-old became the youngest player to record 40 points and 20 rebounds in a playoff game.

Wembanyama shot 14 of 25 from the field, 1 of 2 from 3-point range and 12 of 13 from the free throw line in 49 minutes. He added three blocks, nine offensive rebounds and finished with a plus-16, the highest mark of the game.

With 26 seconds left in the first overtime, Wembanyama made a logo 3-pointer to tie the score and force a second extra period. He finished third in the NBA MVP voting this season.

"Feels like I still got a lot to learn. And I want to get that trophy many times in my career," Wembanyama said.

In his first career playoff start, rookie Dylan Harper scored 24 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, recorded six assists and added seven steals, setting a Spurs playoff record. Harper shot 8 of 20 from the field, 1 of 7 from 3-point range and made all seven of his free throw attempts, finishing with a plus-14. He is averaging 13.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game off the bench in the playoffs.

Stephon Castle scored 17 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out 11 assists, but committed 11 turnovers, one shy of the NBA playoff record. He shot 5 of 14 from the field and 1 of 6 from 3-point range. Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson each scored 13 points, and Julian Champagnie added 11.

Alex Caruso scored 31 points for the Thunder, surpassing his previous career high of 23, and put up the team's first seven points of the game. Jalen Williams added 26 points.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 24 points on 7 of 23 shooting, including 2 of 7 from 3-point range, with three rebounds, 12 assists, five steals and four turnovers in 51 minutes, finishing at minus-15. He scored four points in the first half on 1 of 5 shooting. Gilgeous-Alexander entered the series averaging 31.1 points per game in the regular season and 29.1 points per game in the playoffs.
