HOUSTON — Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office responded Tuesday to a disturbance involving a gun at the Venti Apartments in the 14300 block of Ella Boulevard in northwest Harris County. A caller reported being attacked by a pit bull while with their service dog at the complex.

According to information from the constable's office, the caller was at the apartment complex with a service dog when a pit bull attacked them. The service dog intervened and protected its owner during the attack. The owner of the pit bull then pulled out a gun and fired shots at the service dog.

Deputies from Herman's office responded to the scene following the report of the disturbance. Authorities are actively searching for the suspect, who may still be in the area of the Venti Apartments on Ella Boulevard. No information has been released on whether the service dog or its owner sustained injuries during the incident.

EMS was requested to the scene to evaluate the complainant as a precaution, according to the constable's office. The incident remains under investigation.
