MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO — Health Canada has approved Thyconvi™, a levothyroxine sodium oral solution, for the management of hypothyroidism and thyroid-stimulating hormone suppression. BioSyent Pharma Inc., a subsidiary of BioSyent Inc., holds an exclusive license to register, market, sell and distribute the product in Canada.

Thyconvi™ is the first and only levothyroxine oral solution available in Canada. The product is an oral liquid dosage containing 20 micrograms of levothyroxine sodium per millilitre, supplied in packages of two 75 mL bottles that do not require refrigeration.

The product is indicated as a replacement or supplemental therapy for primary, secondary and tertiary hypothyroidism of any etiology in patients of any age and state, including pregnancy, except during the recovery phase of subacute thyroiditis. It is also indicated for pituitary thyrotropin suppression as an adjunct to surgery and radioactive iodine therapy in the management of thyrotropin-dependent well-differentiated papillary or follicular carcinoma of the thyroid. The formulation offers variable dosing options for patients who have difficulty taking solid dose formulations.
