WASHINGTON — The White House announced on Monday an expansion of its prescription drug discount platform TrumpRx, adding more than 600 generic medications through partnerships with Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drug Co., Amazon Pharmacy, and GoodRx. The expansion is part of a White House push to lower prescription-drug costs ahead of the midterm elections this fall.

"By incorporating this massive catalog of low-cost generics at TrumpRx.Gov, consumers will now have one source to ensure that they're getting the lowest possible cost on their prescriptions," President Donald Trump said at a White House event on Monday. "They have something that they've never had before," he said.

TrumpRx launched in February with more than 40 medications, including the weight-loss drugs Ozempic and Wegovy. The site initially listed 43 branded drugs and currently lists 87 products. It directs consumers to drugmakers' direct-to-consumer websites to purchase medications and provides coupons to use at pharmacies.

The platform advertises discounts on brand-name medications through "Most Favored Nation" pricing deals negotiated with pharmaceutical manufacturers. The administration has made agreements with 17 major drugmakers to offer medications at the same or lower prices than those in other developed countries, tying domestic pricing to rates charged overseas.

Wegovy is listed at $149 on TrumpRx, down from an original price of $1,349.02, an 89% discount. Ozempic is listed at $199, down from $1,027.51. Cetrotide is listed at $22.50, down from $316.12, while Jentadueto is listed at $55, down from $525.08. Mayzent is listed at $42, down from $623, Farxiga at $35, down from $377.82, and Amjevita at $299, down from $1,484.16.

Boehringer Ingelheim added Jentadueto, Jentadueto XR, and the COPD inhaler Striverdi Respimat to the platform. Novartis agreed to provide access to Mayzent, the leukemia treatment Rydapt, and the lung-cancer drug Tabrecta. Amgen added the migraine treatment Aimovig, the cholesterol drug Repatha, and the Humira biosimilar Amjevita. GSK added the inhalers Incruse, Arnuity, Anoro Ellipta, and the antiviral drug Relenza.

Cost Plus Drug Company sells mail-order medications directly to consumers. Cuban, who was expected to attend Monday's White House rollout, has advocated for lower generic drug costs, greater price transparency, and reforms aimed at middlemen in the pharmaceutical supply chain.

"Everyone wants me to rip on TrumpRx. Reality is, it's saving patients money on IVF and a few other drugs. A lot of money." Cuban said in a recent social media post.

"For the vast majority of Americans who have health insurance, using that coverage to pay for medications is still usually a better deal than paying cash through TrumpRx," said Rena Conti, a professor at Boston University's Questrom School of Business. "People who are uninsured or have a high deductible to meet, on the other hand, might benefit more from discounts on sites like TrumpRx," she said.
