CRESCENT SPRINGS, KENTUCKY — President Donald Trump's approval rating has declined to 37%, according to a nationwide University of Massachusetts Lowell poll. The survey found majorities of U.S. voters disapproving of his handling of the economy, the cost of living, immigration and foreign policy, and opposing the conflict with Iran.

An estimated 64% of U.S. voters disapprove of Trump's handling of the economy. A majority gave him poor marks on his management of the cost of living, immigration, and the Israel-Palestine issue. Among independent voters, 47% said Trump's policies have personally hurt them, compared with 41% last fall.

The 37% figure represents a drop from October 2025, when University of Massachusetts Lowell researchers measured Trump's approval rating at 42%. Researchers at the university noted that Joe Biden's approval rating reached 42% in April 2024, more than three years into his term.

Nearly two-thirds of voters said entering the conflict with Iran had been the wrong call, and fewer than one in four Americans said the war with Iran had been worth the costs. Asked whether the economic hardship on Americans was motivating him to seek a peace deal with Iran, Trump said he does not think about Americans' financial situation.

The nationwide average U.S. fuel price stands at almost $4.52 per gallon, up from $3.18 per gallon a year ago. The rise in fuel costs comes as voters' assessments of Trump's economic management have declined.

The poll also recorded discontent with the opposition party. Just 26% of voters said they were satisfied with the Democratic Party, and 44% of Democrats said they were dissatisfied with their own party.

The poll surveyed voters nationwide and was conducted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Trump's current 37% approval rating is five percentage points below the 42% recorded in October 2025, and below the 42% Biden recorded in April 2024.
