TENNESSEE — Incumbent U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann was the only Republican to qualify in Tennessee's Third Congressional District by the Friday candidate deadline for the upcoming election under newly redrawn district maps. The Tennessee Secretary of State released the list of contenders for the nine newly redrawn congressional districts.

Fleischmann faces no Republican challenger in the district. Political parties had until Sunday to determine which candidates were bona fide. Two Democrats qualified to run in the Third Congressional District: Anna Golliday of Chattanooga and Bryan Martin of Signal Mountain.

Five independent candidates also qualified for the Third Congressional District race. They are Dean Arnold, Jean Howard-Hill and Edward John Roland, all of Chattanooga, along with Rodney Joe King of Powell and Donnie Lynn Ownby of Philadelphia.

The Third Congressional District is one of nine districts in Tennessee redrawn ahead of the upcoming election. Fleischmann, who holds the incumbent seat, is the sole Republican candidate in the field under the new district maps. The Secretary of State's release of qualifying candidates follows the Friday deadline by which all candidates were required to file.
