SAN ANTONIO — Dantavea Roshun Mitchell, 32, was arrested Tuesday by the San Antonio Police Department in connection with a February 15 robbery and assault of a clerk at a 24-hour dispensary on Pleasanton Road. Mitchell is charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.

The attack occurred just after 2:30 a.m. at a business in the 3800 block of Pleasanton Road. According to an affidavit, Mitchell approached the front door and, as the clerk opened it, grabbed her and threw her to the ground.

Mitchell then struck the clerk in the head with a handgun, according to the affidavit. The weapon discharged during the assault, firing a round into the floor next to the clerk's head. The round did not hit her.

A second suspect entered the store and took merchandise and money while Mitchell held the clerk at gunpoint, the affidavit stated. Both suspects fled the scene and left in a vehicle where a third suspect was waiting.

Video of the robbery was published by local news outlets the day after the incident. An anonymous tip identifying Mitchell as a suspect was received the same day, according to the affidavit.

The San Antonio Police Department constructed a photo lineup using Mitchell's out-of-state driver's license. The victim positively identified Mitchell in the photo lineup the following week, and a warrant for his arrest was issued the same day the victim identified him.

It is unclear whether the two additional suspects in the case remain at large. The case involves a total of three suspects, two of whom entered or were present at the scene during the robbery while Mitchell was identified through the photo lineup process.
