VIENNA — Delta Goodrem finished fourth representing Australia at the grand final of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest, held at Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria. Bulgaria won the contest with the song "Bangaranga" by singer Dara, marking Bulgaria's first Eurovision victory.

Goodrem performed the power ballad "Eclipse" eighth among 25 acts in the grand final. She stood at a golden piano and danced across the keys while singing, then ascended to a platform that rose from the piano as sparklers and fog machines operated behind her.

Her performance ranked second after the jury votes were allocated. The public vote ranked Israel second and Romania third, pushing Australia into fourth place.

"Representing Australia on the Eurovision stage and being part of this incredible community has been unforgettable. I'm so grateful for all the love and support from home and around the world. It has carried me every step of the way," Goodrem said following the final.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese praised the 41-year-old singer-songwriter, who formerly starred on Neighbours. "Delta Goodrem is someone who can be very, very proud of her efforts," Albanese said. "And all Australians are proud of Delta."

Before the contest, bookmakers had rated Finland as the favorite to win and Australia as the second favorite. Finland finished sixth.

The contest winner is decided by votes from each country's professional jury and by viewer votes, with neither jury members nor viewers allowed to vote for their own country. The act with the most points wins and hosts the next contest. The public broadcasters of Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Iceland and Slovenia boycotted the contest over Israel's participation, citing objections to Israel's treatment of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
