LONDON — Manchester City defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley Stadium on Saturday to win the 2026 FA Cup, with Antoine Semenyo scoring the only goal in the 72nd minute. The victory delivered the club its eighth FA Cup title in the 145th edition of the competition.

Semenyo, who joined Manchester City from Bournemouth in the January 2026 transfer window, converted a back-flick finish from an Erling Haaland cut-back cross. The match kicked off at 15:00 BST in London.

The triumph completed a domestic cup double for City, who beat Arsenal in March 2026 to win the League Cup. The club extended an unbeaten domestic run to 21 games and became the first side to appear in four consecutive FA Cup finals.

Because City have qualified for the Champions League, the Europa League berth attached to the FA Cup winner transfers to the Premier League. City are second in the Premier League, two points behind Arsenal with two games remaining in the 2025–26 season.

The result reversed the outcome of the 2025 FA Cup final, in which Crystal Palace beat City 1-0 through an Eberechi Eze goal after 16 minutes to lift the trophy for the first time. In that match City had 78 percent possession.

City's run to the 2026 final included a 3-1 win over Newcastle United, a 4-0 quarterfinal victory against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium, and a 2-1 semifinal win over Southampton. In the semifinal, Jeremy Doku canceled out Finn Azaz's opener with an 82nd-minute strike before Nico Gonzalez scored a late winner.

Chelsea reached the final after a 4-2 extra-time win over Wrexham, a 7-0 quarterfinal defeat of Port Vale, and a 1-0 semifinal victory over Leeds United through an Enzo Fernandez goal in the 23rd minute. Calum McFarlane took charge of the final as interim manager in his sixth game of a second spell, with Chelsea ninth in the Premier League.

City had also beaten Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge in their last Premier League meeting on April 12, 2026, with goals from Nico O'Reilly, Marc Guehi, and Doku. The clubs last met in the FA Cup at the semifinal stage in April 2024, when Bernardo Silva scored the only goal at Wembley. In that earlier meeting — two years before the 2026 final — City defeated Chelsea to advance in that season's competition.
